Fusion World Meta Tier List ā€“ Raging Roar (FB03) ā€“ All Colors are playable on our way to Ultra Limit

Welcome to our Dragon Ball Super Card Game Fusion World Meta Tier List! In this meta report, we will look at the best Leaders and decks of the DBS Fusion World metagame.

Meta Overview

After an excellent, balanced start to Raging Roar in August, the month of September further solidified this third set as the best set. With FB02-105 going 8-0 at one of the two Texas Card Fest Regional tournaments, the only color without a win yet got it. This means we have one month left before the new expansion, and every color managed to win a big one, an unprecedented event in previous sets.

Obviously, the meta isn't a perfectly balanced competition amongst the five colors. Blue leads the pack, although Black could make a claim at being the best color, as the only one with the highly competitive leaders. I would say both colors are slightly ahead currently, but nothing an experienced player can't overcome.
Green counters Blue very efficiently, giving FB01-070 a solid reason to see play, while Red is almost as hard to win for Green due to struggling to remove FB03-009.

In this mix, Yellow is kind of the only color without a clear competitive purpose, but with FB02-105 gaining momentum as we speak, and still a month left before the new set, who knows if the current worst color can't turn it around.

Disclaimer and Tier Explanations

Tier 1: Decks shaping up the early metagame and looking dominant in tournament so far. Their synergies are either solid overall, or match very well against a very popular opponent.
Typically, other decks might think about including some sort of tech cards to edge against these builds.

Tier 2: Good decks, able to compete with the right build, but lacking a little something compared to the tier above. It can be a difficult match-up holding them back, a lack of raw power to dominate most opponents, or simply some play-patterns they can't answer efficiently.

Tier 3: Solid synergies but either not suited for the current metagame, or unreliable compared to other decks. The foundation is good, but the balance, or the power ceiling might be slightly worse than decks in the higher tiers. At least, this is what the results are showing currently.

Whether you play tournaments or the digital client, you're bound to face FS02-01 routinely, and need to have a plan against it. As time passed, the blue domination has reduced, with Black and Red decks finding ways to adapt their list, while Yellow learned to leverage FB03-094 in the match-up and Green remained bad news to go against.
It is hard to say whether FS02-01 or FB03-001 is the most influential force in the current metagame, as both leaders are tradings wins and winning tournaments. If we believe the global community, Vegeta is heavily favored in the match-up, giving the blue leader an edge over the red one. If we look at the opinion of tournament players, most of those winning a regional with FB03-001 believe the match-up is much closer to a 50/50, leaving the red leader with little to no bad match-ups.

With two ways to build around FS02-01, either with the Vanilla synergy or a more control build, I'll give the nod to the blue leader. Also, I believe the match-up isn't a 50/50 myself, even if a Green heavy metagame would definitely favor our #2 rank on the list.

My personal experience with FB03-001 is that I wish I saw many more Green opponents, so I could do something else but use FB03-009 as energy. Indeed, whether it is Blue sending back to your deck, Black to your hand or Red reducing it to 0 power, I too often am forced to play without the deck's signature card. As a result, I routinely find myself lacking cards to close out the match. But that's a me problem, and the reason I can't stick with the red leader whenever I give it another shot.
If we look at community posts inside the tournament community, FB03-001 in experienced hands is the best leader in the game. Not only certain players found the optimal way to play against Blue, which leave only FB01-002 and FB03-104 as difficult foes to beat. The popular belief is that finding FB01-032 early on makes any match-up decent at the very least.

Then, depending on where you stand about the current match-ups for FB03-001, the red leader could be the best in the game, or a solid one with difficult battles to overcome. Europe tends to point towards the first option, while American tournaments are the ones where Jiren typically doesn't make into top cuts.

Most players I see discuss the power level of both black leaders believe FB03-104 is the best one, but the recent tournaments tend to say otherwise. Both leaders share almost the exact same 50 cards, so the tiebreaker has to be the leader's ability. FS05-01 is more reliable through its +5000 power, enabling hits on any leader in the game, allowing it to attack FB03-001 for free. If you are more of the combo type, and don't mind Blue sending your buffed cards under your deck anyway, playing FB03-104 is absolutely fine as well.

Basically, you should choose FS05-01 for the reliability of always pressuring the opponent, while its black counterpart is a little more combo-oriented with its leader ability.

The Green leader is one of the few in the current metagame without a clear-cut dominant list. Indeed, you can find lists with more ramp, some with the Earthling synergy and FB03-073 or even with FB02-084 like the one featured here.

No matter what you pick, there are two important things to know about FB01-070 in order to get some results : You need to win against Blue consistently, and ramp to

very fast otherwise.
Indeed, while the popularity of FS02-01 is what is keeping Green as a competitive option, the 8-cost card is how you beat the rest of the metagame. FB01-089 helps a lot against tempo based opponents, especially those relying on power 4-cost such as FB03-009 or FB03-140. However, if you can't reach eight energy fast enough to turn the pressure around with your 45,000 power heavy hitter, you will usually have to use too many cards to stay afloat, and eventually crumble against all the incoming hits.

I like FB02-084 a lot currently, typically acting as a defensive finisher right after FS02-01 to remove the remaining board and get out of a big double-strike attack range. It isn't a typical inclusion so feel free to build otherwise. Your comfort might be the most important things when playing FB01-070 currently.

If Blue wasn't the most popular color, able to send our key cards with a bonus 15,000 power back to our deck, FB03-104 would be the best black leader, and probably vying to be the best overall as well. Unfortunately, the story is quite different, and although black got excellent really quickly after its release, the metagame also got excellent at dealing with FB03-140 as soon as it touches the board.

In this context, tournaments results tend to favor FS05-01, a leader able to bring more pressure when cards can't stick to the battle area. However, both black leaders are competitive, so feel free to pick the one you are getting the better results with.

An 8-0 performance at the Texas Card Fest Regional tournament solidified the idea that Yellow finally has a playable deck. Since then, FB02-105 gained a lot of popularity, although it isn't a routine top 8 performer, hence the Tier 3 placement.

Arguably, FB02-105 still has an uphill battle in order to be considered as competitive as the other leaders in the higher tiers, and remains a rare opponent if you play the digital client. Still, many players in the competitive scene have started experimenting around the Yellow leader, and are starting to believe there is a lot of potential left to explore. For example, the red match-up was considered unwinnable for the major part of this set, but some are starting to share their tactics to fatigue FB03-001, through never attacking their leader, and looking to create a stalemate.

Closing Words

if I had to give an adice to someone not sure what the best pick is, I would definately look for what they are good at already. A balanced skillset with a defensive mindset is a blue player, while an offensive mindset points to black. Someone great at controling the tempo of a match and creating card advantage should give FB03-001 a try. Anyone unsure can always get started with Green and its rather linear gameplan, although the early part of a match can be tricky.
Last, the player telling you "I don't want to play what everyone else is playing" or "I like to control my opponent, and make sure they can't do anything anymore" needs to test the current FB02-105 builds.
